trying to hook up 0.16 tube to a 10-32 UNF port. is that what this adapter is for?

fitting says it works with PT230 and PT240 tubing, but what about if somebody's already running TP160 nylon out in the field, will it still hook up right?

TP160 nylon tubing is actually one of the compatible options for this fitting, so you're covered there. The push-connect design accepts a 0.16-inch tube OD, which is what TP160 is sized at. As long as your tubing matches that outside diameter, it'll seat and seal the same way as the other listed types.
