got a setup that’s 3/8-18 npt on the line, but the gauge i’m using is 1/8-27 npt. is this the right bushing to step it down?

You’re on the right track. This adapter is a pipe bushing that goes from a 3/8-18 male NPTF thread to a 1/8-27 female NPTF thread, so it’s meant for exactly that kind of size reduction between NPT connections.
