fitting's got 5/8-18 threads on both ends, but what size tubing does it actually work with?

The tube O.D. on this union is 0.38 inches, which works out to 3/8 inch tubing. Both ends carry the same 5/8-18 male SAE 45 degree flare thread, so you're getting a straight union that joins two 3/8 inch lines together at that thread size. Worth noting it ships without thread sealant, so you'll want to have your own on hand before you put it in.
