Will this fitting work with regular pipe threads, or is it just for hydraulics stuff?

This adapter’s got a male NPTF thread on one end, which makes for a solid, leak-proof connection with standard tapered pipe threads. On the other end, it uses a SAE 45-degree male flare fitting.

Got a line running 1/2 NPT on one end and need to tie into a 7/8-14 SAE 45 flare fitting, this adapter handle that?

That's what this one's for. One end is 1/2-14 male NPT and the other is 7/8-14 male SAE 45 degree flare, so it bridges those two thread types in a straight configuration. Both ends are male, so make sure your mating connections are female on both sides before ordering.
