got a line with 3/8-18 male NPT on one side and I need to land it into a 1/2-20 45 flare, is this the right adapter?

That's exactly what it does. One end is 3/8-18 male NPT and the other is 1/2-20 male SAE 45 degree flare, so it connects those two thread types in a straight configuration. Both ends are male, so make sure your mating fittings are female on each side before ordering.
