trying to hook a 1/2 NPT male port to an inverted flare line, is this the right elbow?

Function-wise, it’s a 90 degree brass adapter that goes from 1/2-14 male NPT on one end to a 0.50 inch female 42 degree inverted flare on the other, so it’s meant for exactly that kind of NPT-to-inverted-flare connection.

Will this elbow work with standard brake lines?

This adapter is suitable for hydraulic brake, power steering, fuel lines, and transmission cooler lines. It's also rated for LP and natural gas use, but that's a special order.
