got a setup with 1/2-14 npt ports on both sides, is this the straight hex nipple that’ll tie em together?

For connecting two matching 1/2-14 NPTF female ports in a straight run, this is the right style. It’s a straight hex nipple with 1/2-14 male NPTF threads on both ends, so it’s meant to join two same size NPT connections.

Got a piece of equipment that needs a half-inch NPT connection on both ends and I need something to bridge two threaded ports together. this the right part for that?

That's what this hex nipple is built for. Both ends are 1/2-14 male NPT, so it threads directly into two female NPT ports and ties them together in a straight-line connection. The hex body gives you something to grip with a standard wrench, so getting it snugged up tight isn't a hassle. It sees use in hydraulic systems, instrumentation, grease lines, and refrigeration setups, so depending on what you're working on, it should fit right into the application.
