got a valve with 1/4-18 female npt ports on both sides. is this the right little nipple to tie em together?
Question by: Jimmy C on Apr 10, 2025, 11:54 AM
For tying two 1/4-18 female pipe ports together, you want a straight hex nipple with 1/4-18 male NPTF threads on both ends. This adapter is exactly that, male 1/4-18 NPTF to male 1/4-18 NPTF.

Does this nipple need any thread sealant when you're putting it in, or does it seal up on its own?
Question by: Ross B on May 19, 2025, 5:26 PM
NPTF threads are built to seal through thread-on-thread contact alone, so no sealant is required. The male NPTF ends on both sides of this adapter create a mechanical seal as they're tightened into the mating ports. That said, make sure both the adapter and the receiving fittings are clean and free of debris before you torque it down.

Will this fitting hold up alright for connecting some hydraulic lines on my tractor?

For hydraulic systems, this brass adapter should work just fine. It's designed to handle demanding applications within those types of systems.
