got a 3/4-14 port i need to cap off, is this the right plug for that?

does this plug need any thread tape or sealant to seal up proper, or is it good to go straight out the box?

No sealant needed. The 3/4-14 male NPT hex head design seals on its own without thread tape or additional compound. That makes installation quicker and cuts out one more variable when you're putting things back together under pressure.
