trying to hook up a tight spot and need a 90 elbow, are both ends on this one 1/8-27 NPT?

Threading is 1/8-27 NPTF on both sides, with one female NPT end and one male NPT end in a 90 degree street elbow layout.

Does this fitting actually seal up tight without having to wrap the threads in tape or use any kind of sealant on it?

Built with 1/8-27 NPTF threading on both ends, the fit is precision-machined to create a leak-proof seal on its own. NPTF threads are specifically cut to achieve metal-to-metal sealing contact, so you won't need to reach for the Teflon tape or pipe dope under normal installation conditions.

If I'm hookin' this up for a refrigeration unit, what's the lowest temp it can handle without crackin'?

This brass adapter can work in temperatures as low as -65 degrees Fahrenheit, so it should hold up just fine in a refrigeration setup.
