Will this adapter work with regular hydraulic fittings?

got a setup that’s 1/2-14 female nptf on one side and 3/8-18 female nptf on the other, is that what this adapter actually is

Thread-wise, it matches that exactly. One end is 1/2-14 female NPTF and the other end is 3/8-18 female NPTF, and it’s a straight reducer coupling meant to join those two female pipe thread sizes.

does this adapter work for hydraulic lines or is it strictly for lighter duty stuff like instrumentation?
