does this fitting work with plastic tubing or just metal? got some 1/4 inch OD line i need to connect up to a 1/8 NPT port

Plastic tubing is actually one of the main use cases for this fitting, along with copper and aluminum. The 1/4 inch OD tube size and 1/8-27 male NPT thread are exactly what you described, so the dimensions line up. Just keep in mind that the temperature rating of -65F to +250F applies to metal tubing. For plastic, you'll want to go by the temperature limits of whatever tubing you're running.

Will this fitting work okay with some soft aluminum tubing I've got?
