got some 1/8 inch plastic tubing I'm trying to connect up to a 1/8-27 NPT male port, will this fitting work for that or do I need something else?

For plastic tubing that isn't Eaton PT230, you'll need to pair this fitting with a 2030 insert to make a proper connection. If your tubing happens to be PT230, you can go ahead without the insert. Either way, the tube OD needs to be 0.125 inch and the port has to be 1/8-27 NPT male thread. As long as those two things check out, you're set.
