How do I put this thing together with the hose?

Assembly is pretty straightforward. You'll slide the nut and sleeve onto the hose, making sure that the beveled edge of the sleeve is facing outward toward the fitting. Then, push the hose into the fitting until it bottoms out. Finally, screw the nut on until it makes contact with the body hex.

got an -08 air brake hose, does this hose end work with that and what threads are on it?

For an -08 hose, this is a field attachable brass hose end made for air brake hose lines. It’s threaded 7/8-20 on the female ABS side, and it includes an adapter with a 3/8 NPTF male end.
