got a line with 3/8 x 24NF threads but the port is 7/16 x 24NS, is this the right adapter to marry those up?

For connecting those two thread sizes, this adaptor is set up exactly for that. One end is 3/8 x 24NF and the other end is 7/16 x 24NS, so it lets you join components that do not share the same thread.

This Brakequip adaptor is made to fit a 3/8 X 24NF thread on one side, and a 7/16 X 24NS thread on the other, so make sure those are the sizes you need.
