The fluid inside dampens the needle movement so you're getting a stable, readable measurement instead of a needle bouncing all over the place. That said, the product does call out a specific limit worth knowing: if pulsation is present, keep your operating pressure at or below 50% of the full scale. On a 2,000 PSI gauge, that puts your safe working ceiling at 1,000 PSI under those conditions. The 0.013" throttle plug in the brass bottom connection also helps slow pressure spikes from reaching the internals too fast.
