got a compactor running pretty hard and the needle bounces all over the place on my current gauge, would this liquid-filled one settle that down?

Liquid filling does exactly that. The glycerin or similar fill inside the case slows the needle movement so it reads steady even when pressure is spiking and dropping fast. Compactor applications are actually one of the main uses this gauge is built for, so it's a solid match for what you're describing. Just keep in mind that on pulsating systems like yours, you'll want your normal working pressure to stay at or below 50% of the 3,000 PSI full scale. Running it above that range in a high-pulse environment will shorten the gauge's service life.
