these are for a Char-Lynn unit -- do I need all four or just however many my column's missing?

Four bolts is the standard count for securing a steering column to a Char-Lynn unit, and that's exactly what you get in this kit. Rather than hunting down individual fasteners, the set covers the full installation so nothing gets left out. If you're only replacing one or two, you'll have spares on hand, which isn't a bad thing to have around for a hydraulic steering setup.
