what's the actual length on this reducer, and does it go from 2 inch up to 2 and a half inch or the other way around?

It runs 3 inches long and steps up from a 2-inch opening to a 2-1/2-inch opening. So if you're connecting a smaller line to a larger one, this handles that transition. Works the same in reverse if you need to step back down, just flip it around during install.
