Does this gate valve need any extra fittings or adapters to get it hooked up, or is it pretty much ready to go right out of the box?

Female NPT threading on both ends means it threads straight onto standard male NPT pipe without needing adapters or extra hardware. For most setups it's a direct connection and you're done.
