got a 1 inch hose on a wash rig. is this the male plug with the barb end, or am i lookin at the wrong half

Male plug is what you are looking at. It is the male half of a ball-lock quick disconnect, and the hose side is a barb for line, hose, or tube. The coupling side is push-to-connect, so you can snap it in and pull it apart without special tools.
