got a compact power unit on a small trailer, is this valve gonna handle 18 gpm and 3000 psi without being the bottleneck?

With an 18 GPM flow rating and a 3000 PSI maximum operating pressure, it fits systems in that range. It is a small, compact monoblock valve, so it is often chosen when space is tight but you still need a full 4-way, 3-position manual valve.

got a log splitter setup, how’s the lever supposed to act on this one, does it stay put or spring back?

After you let go of the handle, the spring centered spool returns the valve back to center on its own, so it does not stay latched in a work position.

flow rating on this thing is 18 GPM, is that enough for running a single cylinder on a mid-size log splitter or skid steer attachment?

For a single-cylinder setup on something like a log splitter or a light skid steer attachment, 18 GPM is generally plenty. The valve handles up to 18 GPM and 3000 PSI, so it fits well within the typical demand of those kinds of single-actuator systems. Just keep in mind the tank port needs to run directly back to tank, not tied into a shared return line, so plan your hydraulic connections accordingly.

This monoblock valve is designed with Buna-N O-rings, which are compatible with standard hydraulic fluids. Using 30-micron filtration is recommended for optimal performance and to help ensure a long service life.
