Got a hydraulic line running -08 JIC on one end and need to tie into a 1/2 inch NPT port on a pump housing. this adapter do the trick for a straight inline connection?

That's what this fitting is built for. The -08 male JIC 37-degree flare on one end threads directly into your JIC-terminated hose or line, and the 1/2 inch male NPT on the other end goes straight into that pump port. No angle, no offset, just a clean in-line transition between the two thread types.
