got a tight spot on a skid steer, will this 45 elbow let me turn a -10 JIC line into a 1/2 NPT port without doing anything fancy?

For tight routing, the 45 degree elbow body is meant to change direction so you can hook a -10 male JIC 37 degree flare connection to a 1/2 inch male NPT port when a straight adapter would be in the way.

If I'm using this in a tight spot, about how much clearance do I need to account for the 45-degree angle?

This adapter lets you make a 45-degree turn, which really helps when space is tight and you can't use a straight adapter. Keep in mind that it connects a -10 male JIC 37-degree flare to a 1/2 inch male NPT port.
