got a fuel pump with a 5/8-18 inverted flare outlet, will this adapter get me over to a -06 JIC line?

For that exact hookup, yes. It is a straight Eaton Aeroquip adapter that mates an inverted flare 5/8-18 thread on one side to a -06 male JIC 37 degree flare on the other, so you can transition from the pump port to a -06 JIC connection.
