got a 1-1/4 inch male NPT fitting already on my line, this female cam lock gonna thread right onto that?

That's what this coupler is built for. The female half has a 1-1/4 inch male NPT end, so it threads onto a matching female NPT port or fitting on your line. Once that connection is made, the cam lock side accepts a standard cam and groove adapter. Just slide the adapter in and push the cam levers down with normal hand pressure and you're locked in.
