got a 3/4" male NPT port on my tank. is this the right camlock piece to screw in?

This adapter does indeed have a 3/4 inch male NPT thread, so it should fit any standard female NPT fitting of the same size.

Can this thing handle compressed air lines? Got a shop setup and trying to figure out what fittings work where.

Compressed air is a hard no with cam and groove couplings like this one. The pressure dynamics of air service create a serious hazard with these fittings, and that restriction applies across the board regardless of size or material. Stick to liquid service applications only.
