what exactly makes this a "cam and groove" style fitting, and is it meant to be swapped in and out regular or more of a set-it-and-forget-it deal?
Question by: Dean T on Feb 22, 2026, 11:16 AM
Cam and groove fittings work by using two cam arms on the coupler body that lock down over the groove of a mating adapter when you rotate them closed. The AL PART B Coupler from Kuriyama is built around that same mechanism, and the whole point of the design is fast, repeated connection and disconnection without tools. So yes, frequent swapping is exactly what it's made for, not a permanent install situation.

Need a quick connect for fluid transfer, is this Part B coupler the cam and groove style?

Commonly called a cam and groove fitting, the AL PART B coupler is meant for quick, reliable hook-ups in fluid transfer where you are connecting and disconnecting often.
