pump keeps stopping mid-cycle on our line, heard these ARO diaphragm pumps got some kind of special valve setup that prevents that. that right?

That's actually one of the standout features on this unit. The patented "Unbalanced" air valve design is built specifically to make sure the pump picks back up and resumes pumping action whenever it's called on, so stalling mid-cycle is far less of a concern compared to pumps without that feature.
