what exactly is the difference between a pin lug and a regular hose coupling? trying to figure out if this is what i need for my setup
Question by: Norm A on Sep 2, 2025, 9:50 AM
Pin lug couplings use protruding lugs on the body that engage with a mating wrench or spanner for tightening and connection, rather than a standard hex or threaded end you'd turn by hand or with a pipe wrench. The female end here connects to a mating male fitting, while the hose shank side barbs into your hose. It's a common configuration on industrial hose assemblies where quick, secure engagement matters and where a standard threaded union just isn't practical.

i’ve got a 2 inch pin lug setup already. is ABF200 the female pin lug hose shank coupling, or am i lookin at the wrong end?
Question by: Dwight G on Mar 31, 2025, 11:32 AM
Function-wise, ABF200 is a female pin lug coupling with a hose shank end, in a 2 inch size. That means one side is the female pin lug connection, and the other side is the shank meant to go into a hose.

what exactly is the pin lug style on this thing, and how's it different from a regular hose shank coupling?
Question by: Wes B on Feb 22, 2026, 5:40 PM
Pin lug couplings have small lugs on the outside of the collar that let you use a spanner wrench to tighten or loosen the connection. A standard hose shank coupling typically relies on clamps or threaded connections alone. The pin lug design gives you a more positive grip point during assembly, which makes it easier to get a solid, secure fit on the hose end without the connection walking on you during tightening.
