got a hose end with M18 x 1.5 on it, will this elbow match that or is it some other din size

On the DIN tube side, it is an M18 x 1.5 male connection in size L12, so it matches a DIN tube connection that takes M18 x 1.5.

Got a hydraulic line running DIN tube fittings on one end and need to tie into a 1/2 inch NPT port at a 90 degree angle. this the right piece for that?

Yeah, that's exactly what this fitting handles. One end is a male DIN tube connection, M18 x 1.5 thread with an L12 size, and the other end is a 1/2 inch male NPT, specifically a 1/2-14 NPTF callout. The 90 degree elbow lets you make that turn right at the connection point instead of bending your line to get there. Steel construction throughout, made by Adaptall, part number 5070L-12-08.
