Does this seal need any thread tape or sealer when you put it on, or is it good to go straight out of the bag?

No extra sealant needed. The bonded seal handles the sealing on its own, which is part of what makes it practical for quick maintenance work. Just thread it onto your M8 x 1.0 BSPP fitting and you're set.
