trying to swing a hose 90 degrees without changing port sizes, is this the right elbow for that?

Built as a 90° elbow adapter, it turns the line at a right angle while keeping the same Komatsu thread on both ends. Both sides are M24 x 1.5, with a male on Side 1 and a female on Side 2, so you are not stepping the size up or down.

fitting's got male on one side and female on the other, does that mean it'll thread right into an existing female Komatsu port and then accept another male fitting on the opposite end?

Correct setup. The male end (M24 x 1.5) threads into a female Komatsu port on your equipment, and the female end accepts an incoming male M24 x 1.5 fitting. Both sides share the same 24mm thread size, so the connection diameter stays consistent straight through the junction. The 90-degree angle just redirects where your line runs from there.

It is indeed made to fit M24 x 1.5 Komatsu-threaded ports on both ends.
