EPDM is a solid fit for water, steam, and a range of mild to moderate chemicals. It holds up well against degradation in those environments where something like Buna or Viton might not last as long. For straight hydraulic oil or petroleum-based fluids, EPDM is generally not the right call, but for water-based or chemical service lines, it handles the job well.
