what's the thread spec on the male end of this thing? trying to match it up to a fitting I already got on the line

The male JIC side runs a 1-7/8 - 12 UN thread, and the connection size on both ends is 1-1/2 inches. If your existing fitting matches that thread and size, you should be good to go.

trying to hook a JIS female port to a JIC male line, is this the right adapter?

For connecting a male JIC to a solid female JIS in a straight setup, this adapter is made for that job. Side 1 is male JIC with a 1-7/8 - 12 UN thread and a 1-1/2 inch size, and side 2 is a 1-1/2 inch solid female JIS.
