Will this fitting work if I need to connect a JIC fitting to a metric standpipe?

Yes, this Adaptall standpipe is designed for exactly that. One side has a 3/4 - 16 UNF male JIC connection (1/2" size), and the other side features a 12mm female DIN standpipe connection.
