That's right, this adapter is configured as a 90-degree elbow.

Got a tight spot on a piece of equipment where running a straight adapter just ain't gonna cut it, would this elbow work to tie in a 1-1/2" JIC male fitting to a metric DIN port without having to reroute a bunch of line?

That's exactly the kind of situation this fitting is built for. One end is a 1-1/2" Male JIC with a 1-7/8-12 UN thread, and the other is a Female DIN Tube port running M52 x 2.0. The 90-degree elbow geometry lets you make that connection in confined spaces where a straight adapter would force you into awkward bends or extra line length. Overall it measures 56mm on L1 and 59mm on L2, so it stays pretty compact even with the elbow shape.
