Does this swivel have any kind of check valve or adjustable end built into it, or is it pretty much a straight-through fitting?

No check valve and no adjustable ends on this one. It runs as a fixed swivel, which keeps things simple when you're hydraulic connections a system that doesn't need those extras. Fewer moving parts and nothing to tune or fiddle with after installation.
