got a -231 o-ring groove. are these backup rings the same sizing as the o-ring or do i need to do math on it
Question by: Darryl M on Sep 26, 2025, 9:06 AM
For sizing, these correspond to O-ring sizes, so a -231 back-up ring matches a -231 O-ring size.

these stretch for install and snap back? just want to make sure i ain't gonna have a fight getting 'em seated right
Question by: Lee J on Dec 3, 2025, 1:54 PM
That's how they work. The urethane material lets you stretch the ring over the hardware during installation, then it pulls back to its original shape and seats itself. Makes the whole process a lot less of a headache compared to stiffer materials.

What's the deal with these back up rings, anyhow?
Question by: Chad M on Dec 29, 2025, 4:38 PM
These urethane back-up rings are made to resist extrusion, which basically means they keep your O-rings from getting pinched or squeezed out of place under pressure.

i’ve got O-rings in dash size -231, is this back-up ring the matching size or is it its own thing
Question by: Randy B on Nov 2, 2025, 11:19 AM
Sizes on these back-up rings correspond to O-ring sizes, so a -231 back-up ring is intended to match a -231 O-ring size.
