got a hose end that’s 3/8 JIC, will this elbow screw right onto it?

On the JIC side, it is a male 3/8 inch JIC with a 9/16-18 UNF thread callout, so it matches up to a 3/8 JIC female swivel.

Got a line coming off a metric port at 12mm and need to transition over to JIC on the other end, this elbow gonna work for that?

That's what this fitting is built for. One end is a 3/8" Male JIC with a 9/16-18 UNF thread, and the other is a Male Metric 12mm with an M12 x 1.5 thread. The 90 degree angle lets you make that transition without needing a straight adapter and then a separate elbow, so it cleans up the routing considerably. Both sides are male, so make sure your ports are female on each end before you order.
