So, will this elbow fitting work with both JIC and BSPP thread types? Just want to make sure before I order.

Yes, it's designed to connect male JIC and BSPP threads. Side one features 7/16 - 20 UNF male JIC, and side two has G 1/8 - 28 male BSPP.

trying to hook a 1/4 jic hose to a 1/8 bspp port, is this the right elbow for that?

For that combo, it matches up: side one is a 7/16-20 UNF male JIC (1/4 inch) and side two is a G 1/8-28 male BSPP (1/8 inch). It is a 45 degree elbow, so it helps when you need to turn the line instead of coming straight out.

fitting's got a 45 degree angle on it, but can you adjust which direction it points once it's threaded in, or is it fixed once you tighten it down?

Because it's an adjustable elbow, you can orient the angled end in whatever direction works best for your routing before you lock it down. That's the whole advantage of the adj. style over a fixed elbow. Get it pointed where you need it, then tighten to hold position.
