Got a machine running BSPP ports and the hydraulic line coming off it has a JIC fitting, will this elbow adapter bridge those two without needing any extra pieces in between?

That's exactly the scenario this adapter is built for. One end is a male JIC 7/16-20 UNF and the other is a female BSPP G 1/4-19, both at 1/4" size, so it connects those two thread standards directly with nothing else needed. The 90-degree angle also helps when the line needs to turn at the connection point rather than running straight out, which cuts down on how much clearance you need around the fitting.
