trying to hook a 3/8 BSPP male into a 3/4 BSPP female port, is this the right bushing for that?

For stepping between those two BSPP thread sizes, it matches that setup: one end is a male BSPP G 3/8 - 19 and the other end is a female BSPP G 3/4 - 14, in a straight steel bushing.

Will this here bushing work with regular BSP fittings, or does it have to be BSPP?

This Adaptall bushing uses BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe) threads on both ends, so it's designed to mate with other BSPP fittings.
