both ends on this thing are female JIC, that right? trying to connect two male JIC lines together and just want to make sure this does what I think it does

Female JIC on both sides is exactly what you've got here. Each end runs a 2-1/2 - 12 UN thread, sized for 2-inch JIC connections, so if you've got two male JIC line ends that need to meet up, this union bridges them straight through. The swivel feature on both ends also makes it a lot easier to thread in without having to rotate the whole assembly.

i’ve got a hose end that’s 2-1/2 12 UN female JIC, is this union the right match on both sides?
