Got a 1-inch BSPP line feeding into a half-inch BSPP port, does this fitting handle that kind of size drop without needing anything else in between?

That's exactly what this adapter is built for. One end threads onto a 1 inch G 1-11 BSPP female swivel port and the other connects to a 1/2 inch G 1/2-14 BSPP female swivel port, so you're going straight from the larger size down to the smaller one in a single piece. No additional reducer needed between them. The straight configuration keeps things in line, and at 50mm overall length it fits into tighter spots where stacking multiple fittings just isn't practical.
