Got a machine with an M18 x 1.5 metric port on it and need to tie into a JIC 1/2" line. This the right piece for that?

That's what this adapter is built for. One end is a male M18 x 1.5 metric sealed thread, and the other is a female 3/4-16 UNF JIC, which is your standard JIC 1/2" line connection. The sealed metric side uses a compression-style thread form at the port face, so you get a solid seal on that end. The female JIC side accepts a standard 37-degree flare fitting. Straight configuration, steel construction, made by Adaptall.

trying to hook a metric port up to a jic hose, is this the right adapter for that?

For mixed thread setups, it bridges a male M18 x 1.5 metric sealed connection on one side to a female 3/4-16 UNF JIC on the other, so you can mate a metric port to a standard 37 degree JIC flare fitting.
