got a hose end that’s 3/4-16 UNF JIC male and i need to land it into a R 3/4-14 BSPT port. is this the right straight adapter?

For that thread combo, yes. One side is a 3/4 - 16 UNF JIC male (listed as 1/2 inch JIC), and the other side is an R 3/4 - 14 BSPT male (3/4 inch BSPT), in a straight steel adapter.

Got a machine running BSPT fittings on one end and JIC on the other, will this adapter bridge that gap without needing extra pieces in between?

That's what this one's built for. One side is a 3/4-16 UNF JIC male thread, the other is an R 3/4-14 BSPT male thread, so it connects those two standards directly. No additional adapters needed in between. It's a straight configuration, so the connection stays inline without any offset.
