Got a line running 1/2" JIC on one end and need to tie into a 3/8 BSPT port on a piece of equipment. This the right fitting to bridge that gap?

That's exactly the application this adapter is built for. One side carries a 1/2" Male JIC with a 3/4-16 UNF thread, and the other side is a 3/8" Male BSPT running R 3/8-19 threads. Both ends are male, so you'd be threading into female JIC and female BSPT ports on your respective components.
