Copper is a solid choice for that kind of setting. It naturally resists corrosion pretty well, so a greasy or damp shop environment isn't going to eat through it the way it might with some other metals. Techna-Fit built these to handle demanding industrial conditions, so routine shop exposure shouldn't be a problem for getting a good seal at the banjo fitting.
