Got some older British-made equipment I'm trying to tie into an NPT-threaded manifold. This nipple gonna bridge that gap, or do I need something else in between?

Yeah, that's exactly what this fitting is built for. One end carries a 2-1/2" BSPT thread (R 2-1/2 - 11) and the other end is a 2-1/2" NPTF thread (2-1/2 - 8 NPTF), both male. So if your British equipment has a female BSPT port and your manifold has a female NPT port, this nipple connects them directly with no extra adapters needed.

got a pump port that’s BSPT R 2-1/2-11 and the line side is 2-1/2-8 NPTF. is this the right nipple to marry those together?

Built for thread conversion, it connects a 2-1/2 inch BSPT male end (R 2-1/2 - 11) to a 2-1/2 inch NPTF male end (2-1/2 - 8 NPTF) in a straight, male-to-male nipple.
